Contract Law: Consideration

August 12, 2023

Consideration means that something must be given or done in return for a promise, for example, for financial value. Consideration is a fundamental requirement for a contract to arise to reflect the view of contracts as a bargain – Combe v Combe [1951]. While consideration does not need to be adequate, it must be of sufficient value in the eyes of the law.
