I am deeply humbled to share that Jehovah, the God of the bible did a BIG thing for me. On the 05 May 2023, at about 10.01 AM, I received a call informing me that I was chosen and made an offer for pupillage (2 at my future Chambers); one of a few hundred nationally to be offered, out of likely thousands of applicants. The icing on the cake is that I accepted a Family and Civil pupillage at my “desired set”.
I honour my parents who placed the greatest importance on education, integrity and hard work.
My husband has seen the good, the bad and the ugly of the process because we walk as one and he is my loudest cheerleader. I am happy that very soon, I will not have to remind him to introduce me as an “unregistered” barrister anymore.
I have been helped by many barristers and other mentors in the legal space, and my family and friends, who have been deeply thanked personally. In fact, before 10am on that day I made a list of the people I would need to thank, and the order in which I would do it.
Jehovah has truly been faithful and He has been kind, very much in line with His nature, yet a continuing renewed understanding is always pleasing to the heart and soul.
If this sounds like a love song to Him, it is.
Very early on during the LLB, in the absence of such resources, I mapped out a career plan with the goal of obtaining pupillage. As an international mature student, the execution has not always been flawless but in time, it has fully blossomed into a pupillage offer.
I had the most enjoyable first and second round pupillage interviews (I decided to simply “enjoy” all of my interviews this year) that a girl could ask for and I’m pleased that this was the result. I am excited about my future Chambers and the next steps.
